Matt Jensen
Matt Jensen is the founding attorney of Strategic Legacy Law, PLLC, where he focuses his practice on estate and business planning. He works closely with individuals, families, and business owners to design customized estate and business succession strategies that reflect each client’s unique goals.
In his estate and tax planning practice, Matt assists clients with a full range of planning needs, from wills and trusts to advanced tax and wealth transfer strategies. He has extensive experience helping business owners integrate estate planning and business succession planning, ensuring that personal, family, and business interests work together seamlessly.
Within his business practice, Matt advises closely held businesses on formation, governance, and long-term management. He provides guidance on ownership structures, management agreements, and planning for future transitions, always with a focus on preserving value and minimizing conflict.
Matt takes a pragmatic and comprehensive approach to planning — recognizing that both family dynamics and business needs evolve over time. He prioritizes consistent communication with his clients to ensure their plans stay current and continue to align with their long-term objectives.

Deep Expertise
Before entering private practice, Matt worked as a FINRA-licensed broker with a Minneapolis financial services firm. During the volatile 2008–2009 financial period, he gained firsthand experience in navigating uncertainty, which deepened his appreciation for coordinated legal and financial planning. His work in finance included the development and management of asset allocation portfolios, assisting with trust and estate administration related to investment assets, and supporting clients with related trading and brokerage needs.
Matt also clerked for the Legislative Committee of the Probate & Trust Section of the Minnesota Bar Association, where he contributed to policy and legal development in the implementation of the new Minnesota trust code.
Prior to founding Strategic Legacy Law, Matt was a shareholder at a mid-sized law firm in the Twin Cities, where he gained extensive experience advising clients on trusts, estates, and business planning.
